Dagupan set to join "New Wave Cities" expo
Dagupan City is all set to join the ivy league of information and technology destinations in the country today.
City administrator Alvin Fernandez said Dagupan has been identified the strongest contender as regional hub of information and technology development in Northern Luzon to participate in the 8th e-Services Philippines’ 2008 Global Sourcing Conference and Exhibition dubbed as “New Wave Cities” Expo.
The project is hailed as the largest convergence of global minds, a showcase of industry leaders, and synergy of best practices providers.
“Dagupan has the best business climate throughout the region. It has the most modern, state of the art information technology superstructures. It hosts the largest fleet of telecommunications players with the most extensive fiber optics facilities than any other city in the whole of Ilocos. It is the region’s vaunted leader in the knowledge industry,” he said “with half of Pangasinan’s total annual graduates coming from Dagupan alone.”
The “New Wave Cities” project is the Department of Trade and Industry’s (DTI) annual international exhibit and conference for the ICT industry. This will be held on February 11-12, 2008 at the SMX Convention Center, Roxas Boulevard Manila. Since its inception E-services Philippines (ESP) attracted over 160 exhibitors and 2,000 conference attendees annually.
This year’s e-Services is a cooperation between DTI’s Center for International Trade Expositions and Missions, THOLONS and Business Process Association of the Philippines (BPAP). With the theme, “Outsourcing Centers of Excellence,” ESP will feature outsourcing centers of excellence and emerging players and locations in the outsourcing industry.
Fernandez said this year’s conference will provide buyers, suppliers, investors and government & trade organizations with information and insight on best practices, emerging delivery locations, industry innovations and investment opportunities. (CIO/RR)
